Are you feeling stuck in your life?
Do you seem to find yourself in the same type of relationship over and over?

Moment Awareness Development
created by Heather Corwin
can help you
explore your present to
discover where you want to be
in your life –
in this moment.
We explore and expand awareness of choices of how we exist in the world. Moshe Feldenkrais explains, "...self-knowledge through awareness is the goal of reeducation. As we become aware of what we are doing in fact, and not what we say or think we are doing, the way to improvement is wide open to us."
Definition: Moment Awareness Development (MAD) is a process of exploring sensations in the body, emotions that are inspired by those sensations, and behavior that is a reaction from both. By bringing these experiences into awareness, reactions can then be addressed so that the individual can choose how to proceed in behavior.
Through a combination of playful, reflective, and personal investigations,
you create your own process of Moment Awareness Development.
Our exploration tools dwell in psychology, movement therapies, and actor training. I am a Ph.D. student in somatic psychology at Santa Barbara Graduate Institute. I have worked with lives since 1993 applying skills as a certified Rolfer, movement educator, and massage therapist. I earned my Masters of Fine Arts in Acting with Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory where I apprenticed Head of Movement Training, Margaret Eginton. Plus, I have introduced some of these methods through my teaching as an assistant professor at Ashland University.
The practice of MAD will facilitate recognition of patterns in which you participate habitually. These patterns may have been formed early on in family dynamics. We are not performing therapy, but rather attuning you to what is present in your life.
Class sessions contain a vast and ever-growing variety of explorations. Investigations include stillness, pre-movement examination, range of motion, stretching, balance work, sensation exploration, psychological gestures, silent repetition, sculpting, guided relaxation & imagery, and breath work. Become better at being yourself - honestly - by being in the moment.
Coming to class? Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in (layers are great), bring a water bottle, and an open mind.
Private sessions available. |
