Rolfing works by  balancing the body in all directions by Rolfingintegrating all layers and types of connective tissue, also known as Structural Integration. During sessions, Heather will watch you walk and move. To facilitate seeing the body and remaining draped, swimsuits or similar wear is worn. Table work will be interactive - you will be asked to make small movements while strokes are applied which will encourage economy of movement and increase flexibility. We will work together at a rate your body dictates to reinforce support from the ground up in your structure. Rolfing has been known to drastically reduce and sometimes erase chronic pain long-term. Athletes often enjoy a better game after Rolfing because they are able to do more while exerting less.

Research has demonstrated  that Rolfing creates a more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement. Research also shows that Rolfing significantly reduces chronic stress and promotes changes in the body structure; it also showed that Rolfing enhances neurological functioning.

Please allow 90 minutes for your scheduled session. Each session has a goal and when it is met, the session is concluded. Ten to Thirteen sessions are usually recommended, but more may be necessary depending on your needs. The first session includes a consultation and goals will be determined at that time by you and Heather.
